Happy 80th Birthday!!!

It's been 1 1/2 years since my father passed away, and today would have been his 80th Birthday. Wow-80 years sounds so old...makes me feel even more thankful that he lived to be 78 and I had the years I did with him (even though I would have appreciated much more).

He had seen SO many things in his life. He was in the Korean and Vietnam War, was a POW, part of the Airborne Division, was a Green Beret (which meant, he could kick your butt with the blink of an eye!) he sailed on Lake Michigan on his boat (which I never was blessed to see), was a registered Scuba Diver and Paratrooper. After retiring from the services he jumped out of planes for competitions-crazy man! He saw death in a few different ways, ways in which I hope to never see. He was an interesting, very complex man, but also very caring and giving.

He is thought of and missed everyday. I wish he was here for us to sing Happy Birthday to, but I have a feeling he is close by. Happy Birthday Dad!
